First Choice's group head of industry affairs, Simon Buck, writes:
First Choice Holidays has a dedicated special needs help line for any queries, questions, concerns or suggestions you may have about any aspect of our resorts and accommodation, 0870 900 2129. To speak to our airline, where your needs may differ, please contact the First Choice Airways’ Customer Support Team on 0870 757 2757. Information about health and special needs is also available on the First Choice website, firstchoice.co.uk, in a Q&A format.
Because disabilities vary, we strongly recommend that all customers with special needs speak to us on an individual basis when booking a First Choice holiday. Pick up the phone and speak to a member of our reservations team on 0870 750 0001, or visit one of our First Choice Travel Shops or Holiday Hypermarkets – all of which have disabled access.
A conversation with one of our experienced agents will enable us to find out about your particular requirements and give you the detailed information about accommodation, resorts, flights and transfers that you will need to make an informed decision and get the most from your fantastic holiday!
As a customer of First Choice Airways (formerly air2000), our airport staff and cabin crew will do all that they can to make sure your flight experience is as relaxing and enjoyable as your time in resort.
If you have your own wheelchair, rest assured that this will be carried free of charge in addition to your normal baggage allowance.
If you have a protective cover for your wheelchair, please bring it with you to ensure your wheelchair is protected whilst in the aircraft’s hold.
A wheelchair can also be supplied free of charge for your use in the airport terminal until you board the aircraft or on your return.
All of the First Choice Airways fleet have aisle wheelchairs available onboard for elderly or disabled passengers who need them and our 767 long haul twin class fleet has fully equipped disabled toilets.
First Choice Airways are ready to help with any assistance you may require when boarding or disembarking the aircraft.
To ensure that everything you need can be arranged, do let us know before you book your holiday or flight as facilities and services can vary between different countries and airports.
All medical conditions are assessed on an individual basis. As policy we may require a doctor's note before you travel to confirm that you are fit to fly.
At First Choice Airways we take passenger health and safety very seriously and were the first leisure airline to introduce heart defibrillators, which are carried on all our aircraft.
Our cabin crew are fully trained in all aspects of first aid and heart defibrillator use. We also use ‘First Call’, a ground to air communications service giving our flight team the support of medical professionals should they need them during a journey.
